Daily Motivation for Virtual Assistants.

By Crystal Redhead-Gould

Too often I come upon aspiring Virtual Assistants who are often ready to throw in the towel. Sometimes it is due to a lack of clients after going into business for themselves. Often it can result from a repeated loss of business due to a termination of contracts. Many lose hope and quickly decide to reenter the workforce.

When making a decision to become a Virtual Assistant, this holds true for all other decisions, outline your purpose. I am not talking about your business plan, although a business plan is recommended. Write your desires, where you would like to take your business? What are your benefits from making it a successful venture? What would you loose if you failed? For instance, unlike many, I quit my job and decided to go into Virtual Assisting full time. There were no trials to see how it goes for me. I jumped right in one hundred percent. When I got depressed, I had to pick myself up and get going because for me there was no turning back. The business had to work come hell or high water. That kept me going.

I think for many Virtual Assistants, therein lies the problem. They decide that they would just go back to working the nine to five if it doesn’t work. There need to be a removal of the “if all else fails” attitude. What would you do if there were no backup plan? For me, it meant making my business a success. Below I am going to outline 5 additional ways to maintain your motivation daily.

How would you feel after you have achieved your ultimate goal? Think about this daily and let it sink in. This feeling would encourage persistence against all odds.

Share your goals. Be sure to share them with the right people. Share them with someone who has similar goals and aspirations. Generate a positive environment by talking frequently with people who can build your dreams with their positive words.

Have a genuine desire. Are you taking on tasks that you truly dislike just to secure a client? If you are doing the tasks yourself this lack of desire may show up in the quality of your work and the result may be a dissatisfied client.

Set small goals on the road to achieving the ultimate goal. Is it your ultimate goal to acquire 10 retainer clients? Then perhaps you can set a bi-weekly goal of one client. Soon your efforts will result in more clients that you ever needed, without thinking too much about it!

Reward yourself. Give yourself a reward for every new milestone and set a new reward for achieving each additional objective.

Don’t forget your health. You must be in good health to maintain a healthy dose of motivation daily. Exercise, sufficient sleep and a proper diet are a must if you want to stick around to enjoy the results of your labor.

So fellow Virtual Assistant, fire up your motivation and get your practice where it should be. Cheers to your good health and success!
